Everest’ scaled by Director of Fisher Productions
Philippa Bowers, Client Services Director at Fisher returned to work after the Easter holidays exhausted but jubilant following an incredible four day Everest in the Alps challenge, helping to raise money for research into childhood brain tumours.
Everest in the Alps is both a physical and mental challenge, with an approximate daily calorie burn per person of almost 10,000, the equivalent of running three marathons back to back.
Philippa was part of the Everest in the Alps team which included 12 peers and friends who climbed the 8,848m height of Everest on skis over the Swiss Alps. The team were inspired to take part by one of the team member’s son, Toby, who is recovering from 18 months of chemotherapy after the diagnosis of an inoperable brain stem tumour at the age of five.
The incredible four day trek started in La Tzoumaz and ended in Verbier and included 14 ascents over a gruelling 28 hours of uphill ski touring with just two hours of downhill skiing.
Philippa said “I am immensely proud of the team and the fact that we completed this amazing challenge. I won’t lie, it was tough especially on day two when there was a danger of altitude sickness. The amazing team spirit and the fact we were raising money for such a fantastic cause kept us all going and it was an absolutely amazing feeling as we reached Verbier and realised we had done it!”
The Everest in the Alps team, have so far raised more than £2.6million for The Brain Tumour Charity.
