The Regent pub welcomes you back!
One of Balham's absolute favourite pubs has added some serious sparkle to a well loved soul.
Since September, the locally owned and operated pub company, Livelyhood, has thrown open the doors of The Regent at 21 Chestnut Grove, right in the heart of fabulous and friendly Balham.
We’ve launched a pretty special menu with the possibility of having your main on small plates too, all the classics with a twist. Of course, our traditional Sunday roast still remains the best in Balham. Embracing the local folk of Balham is at the heart of Livelyhood and The Regent. Building on that, we are excited to launch our Pooch brunch for your pampered pets alongside a newly worked (from 2016), freshly prepared and yummy children's menu.
The Regent continues to provide the best viewing for sport. To guarantee this, we've added a further screen behind the arch - absolutely perfect viewing!
We know how to stage a good night without sport too. We’ve quiz nights, performances and an endless list of events. Our talent scouts have been out and about finding the best in local live music. So when there are no players on the pitch, we’ll still be playing pitch perfect.
It may well be, in Peter Sellers’ words, “The Gateway to the South” but The Regent is definitely “The Gateway to Revelry”.
Livelyhood is all about a celebration of old rituals in new surroundings. About ensuring that the pub truly is at the heart of it's community. Especially when it comes to bringing you the most enjoyed bits of what food and drink have to offer.
It hasn’t always been plain sailing for Balham though. Scandal came to Balham in 1876 when Charles Bravo was poisoned at the Priory up on Bedford Hill. Then there was the devastation of the bombings during World War II. However in true London style, when faced with adversity, we seem to be brought closer together. You see it’s times like these where you find wealth and social standing mean for nothing. It’s a time when you just need get together, lock the doors, grab a drink and allow revelry to prevail.
This is the side of London that The Regent loves and we pay homage to within our four walls. For it is this side to life that inspires social and fun gathering, community celebration, cocktails and experimental music sessions.
