That FriYAY feeling at DSTRKT
On Friday evenings The London Launchettes are always looking for the best places to head to for that much deserved night out at the end of a busy week! Last week DSTRKT was our go to venue of choice.
We had been invited down by the lovely team to enjoy dinner and cocktails, and were welcomed to stay on after to party into the night in their exclusive nightclub. So of course, we said yes!
We arrived and were given a warm and friendly greeting from the DSTRKT team, and whisked into their beautifully designed, contemporary restaurant. The restaurant is split into various sections, and brags a stylish and chic interior, centred around an impressive lighting display that drapes down in a waterfall effect in the centre of the room, emphasising a modern vibe to the room. I couldn’t help but feel like the restaurant wouldn’t go out of place in New York amongst the most stylish of restaurants.
Due to the restaurant’s split level setting, it enables the team to open its doors to any sort of event, small or large – the team are able to adapt the restaurant in accordance to your specific requirements, whether it be an intimate event of twenty VIP corporate guests or a larger party of a few hundred, the restaurant’s capacity can cater for 140 seated guests or 250 standing. The team are flexible and keen to deliver their guests the highest quality service.
We were seated and given the cocktail menu, displaying a vast selection of classic and signature cocktails, I was advised to try the Rapaska (a mixture of raspberry, lime, vanilla and strawberries), and I happily obliged. It arrived in record time in a long thin glass with a yummy raspberry on top for decoration, which I quickly devoured. As cocktails go, it was definitely up there in my top ten favourites, and believe me I’ve tasted many cocktails in my time. Sipping away, I turned my attention to the food menu, with an American and European theme, it, like the cocktail menu, also had a vast selection, with a broad choice of seafood, fresh vegetables and meats, it was a hard decision to make. I had heard only good reviews from friends who had visited Dstrkt’s restaurant, so I was extremely excited to try the food myself. We eventually decided for starters to share a few options, which helped as I was struggling to choose, we ordered –
• The Crispy Aubergines,
• The Pan Fried Truffled Gnocchi
• The Grilled Broccolini and Halloumi
• The Grilled Red Prawns
Yes, I know this sounds like a lot to order for three people, but in our defence the struggle between picking which dishes to go for was honestly too hard and so we simply HAD to order more (first world problems).
The starters exceeded my expectations. The grilled red prawns were sumptuously large and tasty, the vegetables were all cooked to perfection with delicious seasoning, and the whole lot was wolfed down by us extremely quickly…with just enough time to take a photo!
The restaurant’s head chef, Georgi Yaneff, was originally from the Bazaar Restaurant, SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, and is well known in the cooking world for producing delicious food. I highly recommend trying Dstrkt’s restaurant, whether you want to impress top clients or you want the perfect destination for a birthday meal, the staff will accommodate you and your guests, leaving you all in awe of the food, surroundings and hospitality.
Next up I had chosen The Grilled Half Lobster, and as lobsters go, this one was outstanding! It arrived with a bed of turmeric potato salad and watercress, which complimented the lobster meat perfectly. This dish I took my time over, savouring every mouthful.
We had had our fair share of cocktails once dinner had finished and were looking forward to entering the club. Dstrkt’s club is a popular hangout amongst the most elite and famous, having had such guests grace their doors as Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and even Justin Bieber. With its classy décor, top DJ’s and beautiful occupants, it is clear to see why these well known names want to spend their nights partying at Dstrkt. With the added luxury of a VIP section that’s segregated from the main dance floor, boasting its own private toilets, it adds that touch of luxury that other clubs might not have. With a capacity of three hundred, you can hire out the entire club or even just the VIP section for corporate events, fashion shows, private meetings and of course parties, the glamorous venue is sure add a touch of sparkle to any event!
On the evening we were there, we joined the globally known party Mykonos x London x Miami, headed by the DJ duo ACE2ACE renowned for their presence at Miami Music week with their famous “Show Me Love” party, as well as residentially DJing at Cavo Paradiso Mykonos. We danced along side other guests until 3am as ACE2ACE pumped out tune after tune, with a powerful mix of groovy, tech, electro and progressive house songs, creating a great vibe and ending our trip to Dstrkt on a brilliant note (pun intended).
Thoroughly danced out and still content from our delicious meal, we headed home, with every intention of visiting Dstrkt again. Both restaurant and club thoroughly impressed and I highly recommend you give it a visit for your next Friday night, corporate event or party!
