The bar also houses an extensive wine and spirits list with something for everyone. When the sun shines, retractable glass walls expose the lounge to the street allowing guests to spill into Soho and take in the sights and sounds of the bustling neighbourhood. Adjacent to the bar is a raised dining area complete with 55-cover a-la-carte restaurant and the Raw Bar serves an ever-evolving menu of ceviches, tartars, tiraditos, freshly roasted tostaditas topped with fresh sashimi and slow, cold pressed juices. A spiral, burnt-timber staircase leads guests to the upper level which boasts an open Robata grill, sushi bar, and 155 -cover dining room. The exposed Robata grill accommodates up to 15 guests and serves smoky Japanese BBQ such as Miso marinated chicken, Grilled Octopus, Spiced fillet of beef and seasonal vegetables straight from grill to plate. The kitchen, lead by chefs Jordan Sclare and Michael Paul, together known as the Nikkei Boys, created affordable, evolving a-la-carte menu designed to encourage a relaxed, sharing environment with dishes including Avocado Tempura with smoked purple potato; BBQ Pork Belly nashi pear salsa; Black cod with yellow chilli miso; and a selection of fresh, sustainably sourced sushi. The menu also features Nikkei tasting menus of eight courses from £40. The interiors are designed to evoke a sense of modern day Tokyo offering guests a multi-layered experience that blurs the boundaries between modern and traditional aesthetics. Andy Martin’s striking design fuses both natural materials such as lava stone and burnt cedar with art inspired by Tokyo’s contemporary urban culture. Houxo Que, a Tokyo based painter and graffiti artist (previous work pictured above left), has creating a large-scale graphic illuminated by UV light that will spreading across the lower hallway. The upper two floors are accented by the work of Tom Blackford – a local, London based graffiti artist who has create the first instalment of bespoke work that to adorn the upper floors.
